Poll Question:Should Al Gore/Michael Moore Films Be Part of the Curriculum in Public Schools?

An email request sent to my daughter's teacher last year, wherein I stated my request to have my daughter excused from repeated classroom viewings of Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, Al Gore's fable An Inconvenient Truth, etc. apparently became something of  water-cooler buzz with the teacher crowd.

Considering some of the statements I've made on other topics, I didn't expect anything to come from this.

On the contrary, I've experienced considerable feedback on this issue.  When the fact that some of these 'documentaries' are sometimes included in the prepared curriculum - effectively taking the responsibility of exposing pro-leftist, anti-right wing propaganda films to our kids out of the hands of the educators and placing it in the hands of the school boards and/or the provincial government - the tone of the responses became much more angry.

I've decided to go to the readers on this one.  Check out the poll question on the left sidebar and have your say.

Yet Another Fumble by Stelmach

Link Byfield

Not only are his own MLAs losing confidence in his leadership (or lack thereof), but now even Alberta's democratically chosen Senators-elect have run out of patience and confidence in Premier Ed Stelmach. The loss of Link Byfield as a representative of Alberta in the Upper Chamber is huge, and is another embarrassing example of the leadership vacuum located in the Premier's Office.

England Lost, Will Canada Be Next?

A while back I wrote about the need for Canada to end our flawed and dangerous multiculturalism policy ('Germany Awakens, Canada Slumbers', Oct./10).

Needless to say, the responses were many and varied.

Now I'll go one step further and suggest that our entire immigration system needs an overhaul.  It's not that Canada should follow a path of zero immigration - that is not only next to impossible, but would cause serious problems for our future.

I put forth that this nation should focus on accepting immigrants who would not only contribute positively to our overall society, but - and this is the important point - not be part of a growing threat to our laws, our citizens, and our way of life.

One only needs to look at what is happening in England to see Canada's future if unfettered immigration is allowed to continue.  The Islamization of Britain is in full gear.

Like Canada, England has long been seen as a place for the world's down-and-out, a destination for every radical element looking to plant roots.  Like Canada, England has suffered for decades the symptoms of political correctness which has resulted in such events as radical Imams preaching their venom on British soil, groups of Muslims publicly disrupting November 11th gatherings with pro-Islamic chants and the burning of poppies, etc.

All seemingly protected because of their 'special status'.

So much for the everyone-lives-together-in-peace utopia the multiculturalists envisioned.

Complicit in this embarrassment are those who still refuse to acknowledge the problem, many employed as teachers.  The latest from England is the story of two schoolboys who were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.

As shameful as this example, it is certainly not shocking.  School teachers and university professors have long been useful idiots for all things leftwing and politically correct.

When they're not showing Michael Moore films as part of their 'ciriculum' (my refusal to expose my daughters to repeated showings has made me known in local education circles), they are preaching the values of accepting Islam to their students.  A teacher who tries that with Christianity in place of Islam would find themselves brought up before the administrator or the farcical Human Rights Commission, to be sure.

Immigration is a must-have.  It's who we accept for citizenship that is important.

Canada must act now to avoid the pitfalls of England.  Their damage will take decades, a courageous leader, and a change in their society's mindset to repair.  Canada has the advantage of recognizing the impending dangers we face.  We have seen glimpses of courage from our own leader, P.M. Stephen Harper.

Now we must change the potentially devastating politically correct mindset before Canada ends up trapped in the same mess which England currently suffers.

I'm Back, Baby

They couldn't shut me up, so they tried to shut me down.

They'll have to do better than that.

Palinitis Still Afflicting the Left

It's been two years since the presidential election and America's left is still suffering the symptoms of Palinitis.

It's in their heads and their hearts.  It's the subject of continual opinion pieces and news stories.  It seems you can't watch any of the usual suspect leftwing broadcasters such as MSNBC and CNN, or listen (if you can stomach it) on NPR without seeing evidence of the disease.

Sarah Palin

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has gotten under their collective skins and they cannot seem to find the cure.

The latest to suffer the effects of Palinitis is CNN's own Anderson Cooper.  Last night Cooper devoted his show (if you can call it such) to a 'feud' between Palin and a columnist at the Wall Street Journal.  He even brought in a couple of panelists to discuss how Palin's opinion was wrong, and how terrible it was that she didn't, at the very least, apologize.

Cooper hammered his point that "...it is a pattern" for Palin to 'attack' those who dispute her.

The only pattern I saw was from Cooper himself who, after the obligatory statement that this happens with both Democrats and Repubicans, went on as expected and threw a Republican - Palin - under the spotlight.

He repeatedly referred to Palin as a politician (note to Anderson Cooper: Sarah Palin is a former governor), and tried to suggest she should refrain from her modus operandi.

On a day when a phantom missile/airplane entrail spotted off the West coast was the talk of the nation, on a day when President Barack Hussein Obama's latest exercise of ass-kissing Islam in Indonesia made global headlines, Anderson Cooper decided that an innocuous Sarah Palin-WSJ difference of opinion was worthy of focus.

Anderson Cooper

The constant spin from the political/media left, of which I include Anderson Cooper, endlessly tries to mock Palin, questioning not only her opinions and statements but her intelligence a la Bush.  They seem hell-bent on portraying Palin as someone who shouldn't be taken seriously, that her credibility is nothing and that she is a sort of an afterthought on the political scene.
The message is that Sarah Palin should not be given serious thought.

The irony, of course, is that the constant attacks on Palin proves she is exactly that - a major player in American politics.  Their Palin obsession has caused a solidification of her reputation and credibility.  As one of Cooper's panelists pointed out, Palin batted .900 in her support of candidates last week.

While Sarah Palin has not announced, or even hinted, at a run for the White House in 2012, it is apparent the leftwing machine believes that she will.

And that has them running scared.

I wonder if Obamacare covers Palinitis?

Random Rants: Hairy Movember

In case you haven't heard, this month isn't November - it's Movember.  Men are growing moustaches for the month to bring awareness to the issue of prostate cancer, and I have taken up the challenge.  Last month I lost an excellent member of my staff - and a super guy - to cancer.  So, in memory of Stewart Robinson, I'm letting the top lip get hairy.  For more info and to sign up go here: http://www.movember.com/.  To donate on my page go here: http://ca.movember.com/mospace/1043126/......

......Canadian Green Party leader Elizabeth May came out this week with a suggestion that the way to eliminate 'negative' political t.v. ads is to ban them altogether.  Here's someone who in the past has taken issue with being categorized as 'leftwing', yet proposes an idea that is nothing more than censorship.  This is the biggest issue facing the nation, Lizzie?  It's almost as if she tries to purposely undermine her own credibility......

......I'm enjoying the aftermath of the U.S. midterm elections.  No surprise that the liberals are doing all they can to downplay the success of the GOP, with leftwing talking heads yapping non-stop about the Republican's failure to win both Houses (did anyone other than Dick Morris really believe that was going to happen?) and the failure of some Tea Party candidates to achieve victory.  The leftwingers are beyond grasping at straws - they more resemble a thrashing trout high up on the beach.  These are the same people who claimed two years ago that conservatism was dead in America.  Credit Obama for the miraculous resuscitation......

......Convicted terrorist Omar Khadr could be enjoying his freedom in an unseemly short amount of time, thanks to a deal allegedly struck between the Canadian and American governments.  Khadr, 15 when he killed an American soldier in Afghanistan, has been fawned over by the Canadian liberal media machine to the point that some soft-headed countrymen have begun to see him as some sort of victim himself.  Folks, my teenage daughter knows right from wrong.  There's no reason why Omar Khadr didn't.  The fact that today, some 7-8 years after the incident, he is still without remorse for the killing and still prescribes to the same murderous Islamic doctrine takes all legitimacy out of the argument that he was 'just a boy'.  He was a terrorist then, he's a terrorist now.  One year in an American prison before being transferred 'home' to Canada is unacceptable.  Khadr is an American prisoner of war and should be treated as such.  A better deal between the two nations would be for the U.S. to keep Omar Khadr - and we'll gladly ship the rest of his anti-West, terrorist-sympathizing family down there as well......

......How mentally warped are some leftwing political pundits?  Bill Maher claims he doesn't think there is such a thing as the 'radical left'.  Whoopi Goldberg and Joy (72 virgins) Behar walk off the set when confronted with the truth that Muslims attacked America on 9/11.  Keith Olbermann....okay, his entire cable show is one big example.  One wonders if these nutjobs reached their heights because of their intelligence or because people need something bizarre to react to from time to time.  Watching Behar is like spending a few minutes at an old-time freak show: you look at it, but only for a few minutes.  Too much could give you nightmares......

......California voters said no to the proposition to legalize pot in the state.  You can still hear the growers in British Columbia cheering......
