The time has come for democracy loving Canadians of all political stripes to come together to fight the coup d'etat that is being waged against our government. Each excuse given by the opposition parties for the attempted theft of power from the very-recently re-elected Stephen Harper Conservatives has been discredited, the truth shown for what it is.
We learned that this was in the works since before the last election some 7 weeks ago, proving that the Libs, NDP, and Bloc parties lied to the public right from the start regarding their reasons for the attempted coup.
Simply put, Canadians rejected Stephane Dion for P.M. - the Liberal Party itself has rejected Stephane Dion - and now we hear that he will be thrust upon us - unelected, of course, as in any real banana republic - to be our new federal leader.
The CBC can't play up the possibility of a government swicheroo enough, and seems to be experiencing the broadcasing equivalent of an orgasm.
An NDP economy? Dion as P.M.? Quebec Separatists in charge of National Heritage and Language laws?

http://www.gopetition.com/online/23806.html CANADIAN TRANSPARENT GOVERI to have been caught in the political ping-pong game of our so-called democratic elections. I was born and raised in Toronto and hate to admit that since the Tredeau days, I have pretty much given up on the idea of democracy.
Now, Michaelle Jean, our Governera General, will have the difficult task of playing a mediator role (Canada cannot, should not be without a governing body). But unlike most mediators, she has only one week to hear all sides of our mud-slinging, politically elite's high-school antics and best decide what would be best for Canada, with the Queen's blessings I have been led to believe. She has access to the highest advisors in all fields she may find necessary to consult with.
What bothers me the most about all the media and public attention this situation is generating, seems to me that most forget what triggered this event. The Liberals, NDP and Bloc didn't just decide to form a coalition one day because they had nothing better to do. Harper in one of his most underhanded and seditious attacks on Canadian Democracy to date tried to all but eliminate the opposition parties. Harper took control of the government in the manner of a high-school bully as if he had a strong majority rather than a weak minority.
"The opposition parties all say Flaherty's mini-budget, which strictly limits federal spending, bans public-sector strikes through 2011"....banning public-sector eh, our politically elite trying to sneak that into effect sorta like the martial law the Americans had thrown at them.
A combative Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said Friday the government won't back down on a single measure, despite the opposition threats.
Heck, give them their coalition (Dion will be replaced) but only if they agree to tax-payers conditions:
1. there cannot be another election for three years, tax-payers reserve the right to vote on issues
2. they implement a complete transparent government including expenditures (GOOGLE FOR GOVERNMENT)
3. they all work together to clean up or economy, medical system, educational system, garbage problem and implement ways to make Canada green again. Unemployment and poverty would would be minimal as every Canadian would need to be involved in some way, hence being compensated by the some 50% taxes taken from every employed person. I believe it's time our government became just that, ours.
BANS PUBLIC-SECTOR FROM STRIKING UP UNTIL 2011.....THEY ARE GOING TO BAN THE TAXPAYERS FROM STRIKING AGAINST FLAHERTY'S BUDGET....THIS IS DEMORACY?????????...WE NEED TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENTING
NING BODY
Unfortunately, those politicians probably don't read their emails and most of them are not aware that they have an email mailbox.
When the box is full, the secretary just presses the delete button.
soo sad isn't it...if I knew how to be heard, let alone understood, I would keep trying anyway...and then I would probably be hung out to dry as some kind of menopausal nut case....don't know why I seem to be the only one who sees Harper as guilty as the three... amigos...blind mice...mucketeers..but definitely not wise-men
Having no love for unions whatsoever, Flaherty's plan for a TEMPORARY ban for strikes doesn't bother me at all. Instead of striking, howz about they get the hell to work?
when the concept of unions was conceived, and implemented, working conditions were deplorable u should be thankful u will never have a chance to experience, thanks to the concept of workers unions, hope for a decent existence was finally achievable, workers were finally motivated to dedicate themselves to their job with hope for the future, the introduction of unions pulled bottom dwellers into the work force which any economist knows is imperative to a healthy economy.....that was then...now ..we have the knowledge of knowing the corruption that can take over the top level to the constant whining of the fat soakers...yes, I so believe that unions have reached a point of possibly being more destructive to our economy than helpful, at least as they stand now....I would opt out for revisions rather than destruction as they still serve a purpose ....we still want to motivate workers to continue ...we still need maintenance to all our public works under which are all unionized...
Heck, Im gonna be dead soon so this battle is yours, I was around when they introduced A TEMPORARY sales tax for the first time...one year they said...lol...we all know what happend to that one...ya all cry for democracy, instead u give up your rights that were fought for with sweat blood and tears
are you really intending on diminishing the mental capacity of Harper and his government.....do you truly believe he didn't deliberately push these buttons ...his timing is perfect. he has those three stooges jumping through hoops trembling in their boots ...come on think about this...Dion as leader...lolol...they were so not ready to play this collation card...but I'm thankful they did...this is the most tax-payers attention the government has ever experienced....and most of it is on line...it is truly amazing the anger this has generated...even though justifiably so...east and west are not that far apart in their beliefs, not like the government (all parties) is making it out to be....witch is why I am promoting GOOGLE FOR GOVERNMENT ...we have the technology to finally communicate instantly therefore making it much tougher for the governing elite to pull the preverbal "wool over our eyes"...lolol but for the holidays we will have a break from their ping-pong game....next year should prove interesting
.... Of course they have been explorying all avenues of options available to the opposition for a large number of years now....I read about it back in 2000 and in return: you dont think Harper didnt know thses options were available seeing as they have played the role of opposition, you dont think he didnt realize he was going to push them to this drastic responce, knowing full well Canada does not want Dion as Prime Minister and that all Canadians are sick and tired on voting on their political ping-pong game of power, which is I might add, Harpers way of trying to snag a majority....geeeessssshhhhhh
Don't let the "issue" fool you.
Um..okay...I think I've got it. :P
Anywho, unions are like the feminist movement and hockey in Toronto - a good idea to start with, but its been bastardized all to hell.
@Sullivan,
You are absolutely right although the point is that by principle, one should not ban the fundamental right to go on strike unless all parties agree to this ban since it creates a dangerous precedent.
That being said, the government backed up, the opposition played its role so your advice should go to the coalition, there is no reason to overthrow Harper since he did agree to back track on his plan, therefore such a coup d'état becomes kind of useless and is just a display of opportunism and power trip from coalition leaders.
Let's get back to work or let's go back to the poll knowing that NDP and Liberals are just one and only one party in the end.
I just had an idea,
How about a national (federal) referendum on whether or not canadians back up the coalition?
If the yes win with 50% + 1 of the vote, we'll let them govern our country. If they loose, they should agree to let the conservative govern for a while (let's say at least one good full year).
How about that, what does the moderate separatist says about it?
My standard rebuttle to the 'Harper didn't win a majority' argument has been that no one - NO ONE - voted for a coalition. If the coalition is serious about doing what they do for Canada and not for their own personal self-interest, then they (Libs, NDP, and Bloc) should have no hesitation about taking the issue to the voting public. In the meantime, I will wait for the fallout from the Harper budget.
But know this: the people of Alberta (and many in Western Canada) are looking at January as the pivot point - either Harper continues to rule, or we will get serious about calling it a day regarding confederation.
I will give you my two-cents worth (which means its worth nothing), we are a nation divided by our governing leaders
-seeing as all leaders knew of the ability to form a coalition (was publicly talked about back in 2000 and on the table of possibilities for all parties) I think this coalition should include the leaders of all four parties (put them all in a dungeon together until they can do the job they fought so hard during the elections to do)with maybe the green party as opposition (just maybe the nation can concentrate on keeping Canada green).
-seeing as Harper's government (Flaherty's mini budget) deliberately forced the three stooges into playing the coalition card (they needed to buy some time to come up with a working budget) by forcing a non-confidence in the house (even-though Dion has finally announced he is stepping down when they appoint a new leader, they were so not ready for this coalition and Harper knew this) and left the nation suspended without any decent leadership till when...end of Jan....again..put them all in a dungeon together until they can do the job they fought so hard during the elections to do.
-seeing as the nation is divided on representation (east, central and west)a complete coalition would eliminate the division of our nation (which is being fueled by our governing body)...again...put them all in a dungeon together until they can do the job they fought so hard to do during the elections
-seeing as the majority of Canadians (including myself) believe that Canada is the best country on the planet, I, personally, would love to form a transparent government that represents Canada from coast to coast so that we can finally get to fixing the issues we face rather than being held hostage to their political ping-pong game of power.
