David Suzuki: The Doctor is WAY Out

The great national embarrassment known as David Suzuki has done it again. Speaking at several events recently, the radical environmentalist/nutjob suggested on more than one occasion that politicians who refuse to walk in goosestep with his tree-hugging ideology should be…ready for this? – jailed!

Zeroing in on his usual targets, namely anyone who isn’t one of his disciples, Suzuki spewed: "…we can no longer tolerate what's going on in Ottawa and Edmonton…" regarding those who he feels are criminals against the environment.

He continued: "What I would challenge you to do is to put a lot of effort into trying to see whether there's a legal way of throwing our so-called leaders into jail because what they're doing is a criminal act."

Like a leader of a cult (or member of a radical Islamic fundamentalist group) Suzuki has slid into the mindset of ‘if they’re not with us, we must harm them in some way’. He seems to be telling us that if we don't jump on board his EnviroNazi train, we deserve to be locked up. He has gone from innocuously hosting little-watched nature shows on the little-respected C.B.C. to becoming an icon to the political left.

Moreover, The Mad Scientist of the North has now come to see himself as important – omnipotent, even - the savior of Canadians from ourselves and our horrible, pro-economic, pro-capitalistic ways. It makes me wonder how much damage he is doing to the ozone layer each time he spouts his ramblings. Talk about poisonous gases.

Perhaps we are seeing what happens when someone starts to believe his own press clippings. Suzuki’s ego has grown larger than can be considered normal. If he does have any friends in this world, you’d think one of them might want to have a little chat with the good Doctor and remind him that he is only a scientist (and, if the rumours regarding the size of his own so-called 'carbon footprint' are true, a big-time opportunist and hypocrite).

David Suzuki has left the real world and has entered his own kind of mental utopia; a world in which his opinions, beliefs, and voice are the only ones that matter. Sadly, there are many out there who follow his lead. In fact, I don’t know what is scarier: his spiral into weirdness or the auditorium full of university students that so eagerly applauded his every word.

It is a shame when we see a public figure lose touch with reality. In the case of David Suzuki, one can only hope that he gets the help he so obviously needs. A lobotomy is relatively inexpensive. Alternatively, I hear that they are doing wonderful things in sanitariums these days.
